Raspberry melt in the middle pudding

img_4156.jpg

One thing that always bothers me is keeping magazines for recipes that are rarely used such as seasonal foods. Today I changed that. Take pics and save them that way you have the information without the hassle of finding extra storage space. I particularly want to try this one above. Chocolate and raspberries. Yum.

Educational Storytime for children

May parents find it a challenge to get their little ones engaged in learning. As a parent I found the easiest way was to make it fun and let the child lead in terms of what interests them. In the last 6 years this had led to topics on London, Big Ben, churches, bridges, transport, trains in particular, planets, countries and different food groups to name a few. The surprising part is I never sat down and said lets learn. No, all this was my daughter asking to know more about these topics. It’s an interesting journey.

We also read lots of books. In fact we have so many they have taken over and quite a few are in piles around the house with no place to go! One day we decided that we could share our love of books and give others a chance to learn through them. What makes that fun? Well books are fun but so are favourite characters. At the moment we are sharing new stories every day. You can check  us out on our Vidme channel  Ready Teddy Storytime

Not only can you find stories but you can read along with us and take part in the activities at the end of some books like Topsy and Tim or Bing bunny. We have lots of Cbeebies characters and old favourites like Thomas The Tank Engine and Miffy. We also cover all topics. Abc, 123, colours, shapes, weather. There are pop up books and sound books. We even help with potty training.  At the moment we have 35 stories to choose from with more coming soon. Don’t forget Halloween is coming and we have some of the best stories already waiting for you. We hope you can join us.

Tears and grazes with the Paw Patrol

It’s not been an easy time for us lately. A child with a cough is one thing, being unable to breathe during a coughing spell is quite another. Unfortunately its also what my daughter is dealing with at the moment. The good news is we have medicine and she is likely going to be back her usual self soon. (I hope.)

It was during our wait at the chemist we found the Paw Patrol First Aid Kit.

At first glance I thought ‘Oh we have Paw Patrol plasters at home. We don’t need this’.

I was wrong. We bought it because my daughter loves Paw Patrol and the extra would come in handy. Just look at what you get.

Includes 40 components.

  • 14 finger plasters
  • 6 large plasters
  • 2 graze plasters
  • 1 forehead thermometer
  • 4 dressing pads
  • 1 pair tweezers
  • 6 cleansing wipes
  • 6 character stickers

All in a resealable packet. It’s also great value at £1.90 lloyds chemist. As I have found it’s also a novelty feature and have lost a few of the stickers for fun. I would highly recommend this for all little Paw Patrollers.

Autumn Prep at Primark

What a great summer… for a duck! We have had nothing but rain for the best part of the week though it didn’t dampen our trip to the zoo thankfully. However I am still feeling pretty bad with a sore throat so to cheer myself up Ta Da. A little treat.

Primark has some really nice Ugg style boots in for autumn so I picked up a tan brown pair for only £6. I find it a good tip to by early so you are prepared. (They also sell the boots in grey and black) I also bought a Unicorn plaque for £1.50.

To my surprise and delight Boots were having a Yankee Candle sale. My local branch only had cinnamon on sale but other stores may differ. The large Yankees as pictured were reduced to £10 and the medium jars £5.

Treats

Total £17.50.

Will Primark do the ta-ta towel?

The latest innovation taking the internet by storm is the new ta-ta towel. Yay you say. Or maybe What the heck? Well let me explain for those who haven’t yet come across this genius idea. Its basically a kind of towel for the boobs. In particular the more busty ones. Trust me no matter how careful you dry there will always be a little damp, or worse, sweat build up after your shower. It was also noted as being convenient for breastfeeding and those who have had breast surgery due to the comfort.

The ta-ta towel.

Would I buy one? Hell yeah but not at this price tag. Its still a little too pricey.  $45. I’m awaiting Primark to do their magic. Come on Primark. Are you going to come up with a cost effective towel?. Lets hope so.

Amazing savings on kids toy haul.

As children see more and more as they grow the more they want. It’s not really their fault. Even as adults we fall into the ‘want’ trap. That’s why I love shopping second hand for some amazing finds like the ones I am sharing here.  These were all from charity shops for my daughter. The biggest saving was the Sylvanian Families Farmhouse RRP £74.99. and no longer made. I paid £4. It was like new. (door is missing in photo as my daughter took it off.) The smaller Sylvanian House cost £3. RRP £44.99 Ours did not come with furniture as it would new but still great savings.  The Friends Lego was still sealed and cost £1.99.  RRP £17.99.  Our Disney finds were a highlight as they can be so pricey. Merida from Brave toddler doll. No shoes but we have plenty others we can use £1.50 RRP £15.  Again the Ariel styling head did not come with accessories but we have them from another styling head. Cost to us £1. RRP £17.99.   The Wind In The Willows board game was originally given free when a copy of the video was bought through Readers Digest. I am unsure of the video cost to receive this gift but the game cost us £1.99.

I love shopping for my daughter as much as I do for myself and more so sharing what we find. I would say these are “pocket money finds”.

Overall RRP £170.96 (minus the board game) Cost to me £11.49 Total Savings £159.47.

Saving on fashion.

I’m more or less a jeans and tee girl but that doesn’t mean I don’t love sparkle and lots of it. My new item of desire has got to be these silver glitzy boots £34.99 from New Look

New Look £34.99

Who can resist?

I also quite like these little butterfly shoe clips to jazz up plain shoes.  How long have these been around?

Glitzy buttefly clips

Perfect for updating older shoes.

Earlier in the week I also went thrifting and bought a little on Ebay. Here’s what I bought and my estimated savings proving fashion can be fun and frugal.

First was the Gold sparkly River Island top from Ebay Cost £3.75 RRP unknown but usually around £20+. Second was a grey tee with diamante and lace detail. Again River Island and bought from Ebay. Cost £3.19 RRP £16.

Next a little visit to charity shops brought up this little lot. 1. Short sleeve black blazer from Topshop. Cost £1.99 RRP unknown but lower prices are £30+. 2. Primark slouchy pink tee Cost 99p RRP around £4 normally. 3. Primark patent pink shoes. Cost £1.50 RRP unknown. averages around £7.

Total cost to me £11.42. Estimated cost new £80.99. Saving of £69.57

Next post is my amazing savings on kids toys. You can also check out my hauls and reviews on youtube here.

Children’s book haul plus some goodies for me.

It’s been forever again since I have updated. Life got in the way and perhaps that is a good thing. Either way I am back with a mini haul of a Saturday shopping day in town with my daughter who is now 3. The point of our trip was to get out of the house and to find some cheap clothing to embelish. Its my idea to do some dungarees for halloween and christmas. To my dismay we found none. The only clothing we did find had Tombliboos on and was too small. For those not up to speed with Tombliboos they are found in The Night Garden which we went to see live on 2nd september and it was well worth it.

We checked local charity/thrift shops and found the following books:

Dinosaurs love underpants. Also shown on cbeebies this is a great book for dinosaur fans which my little girl has suddenly become. Also the usbourne Camping Out book which is part of the Farmyard Tales range which we love so had to have. The Spot Christmas book is big and chunky so good for smaller children too but we just love spot. The Nursery book is a lift the flap style which has some memory games incorporated into it. The selling point for me was the lift the flap feature. Peter Rabbit nursery rhymes. We love Peter Rabbit. For me I cannot pick up a Beatrix Potter book without thinking of Rik Mayall. If you haven’t yet seen the episode he voiced check it out. Its reminiscent of Drop Dead Fred!

Now The Witchery Tales is a book based on haunted Edinburgh. My partner and I both love Edinburgh and for me the paranormal element is a must.  The Oh Dear book is another lift the flap book with the added bonus that the child can guess the animal about to be revealed.

The last two items are for me. I love Old El Paso kits and this is one of my fav types. The stand and stuff kits. I’ve tried a few before but this one is garlic and paprika. We eat a lot of garlic as it does help ward off infection naturally and I believe in eating healhty to stay healthy. That being said the ginger Green Tea is out the window as it does contain caffeine which may or may not be attributing to or be the underlying cause of my recent medical problems. However I do love ginger so hopefully will find one I can have.

The children’s books cost roughly 50p each and that is always a bargain. I think the witchery one was £1.

Toddler Primark mini haul April 2014

I often sit and watch or read shopping haul vlogs and blogs mainly cause I love shopping. However despite wanting to attempt to do my own I never have gotten round to it. So here it is.

Its not often I get round to our local Primark and to be honest I would prefer to go to one of the larger stores. As it is I can easily spend £100 plus in a smaller store so perhaps best I’m not going every week! My intention was to go and pick up a gift for my sisters birthday. (She loves Primark as much as I do.) Along the way I also picked up a few peices for myself and for my daughter who is 2.

So why Primark? Well for one its cheap. That’s one of the main reasons. Also when it comes to footwear I wear them down so quick that I dont intend to spend lots on something that will likely last me no more than a month or two. There is a good range and they are featured in lots of magazines now so when you spy something you like the look of there is a good chance it is from Primark. Or at the very least you can get a lookalike copy of it from there at a fraction of the price.

Today Im focusing on what I bought for my toddler.

She badly needed new shoes. At the moment we have winter boots and wellies. Thats about it in her size so we were hoping to find a pair of trainers or hightops for running around in. Unfortunately we could not find any so we settled for the following dress shoes and canvas ones.  Pink a colour we both love so it works well.

Size toddler 6 £2.50

Pink shiny shoes £4

Pink shiny shoes £4

Along side the shoes we also bought a new t-shirt 3/4yrs Peppa Pig for £4, a skinny jeans jacket in almost flourescent pink for £8 and in a size 4/5yrs. Primark tends to run small at times and my daughter is big for her age. Despite that I never thought I would be buying a size 4yrs for a 2yrs old! The small airplane is a 50p toy we picked up in a charity shop.
